Cost to you
At SDC Group, we believe in being completely transparent about the treatments we offer and their costs. Whether you are an NHS patient or are being seen on a private basis we will always explain your treatment options and the costs involved, prior to treatment commencing. Where there are a range of treatment options available to you, your SDC team will explain the benefits of each, allowing you to have all the information you need before making a decision.
NHS treatment is free for:
Everyone under 18 years of age
Those under 19 years of age and who are in full-time education
Pregnant and nursing mothers, until the baby is 12 months old
Those with certificated exemption from payment because of income.
Unless you are in one of the groups entitled to free NHS dental treatment or help with the cost, you will need to pay 80% of the total cost of your NHS dental treatment up to a maximum patient contribution of £384 per single course of treatment.
You can find out more information on the Practitioner Services website.
The NHS fee structure is complex and varies considerably from patient to patient depending of the treatment required.
Please consult the Scottish Dental website for further information.
Help with costs
The Scottish Government have produced a leaflet providing information on NHS dental costs and how to get help with these, entitled A Quick Guide To Help With Health Costs.
